Cost saving measure, and inmates will get rides back to Immokalee when released if they need it.
Inmates move to Naples
COLLIER COUNTY: The Collier County Sheriff's Office has temporarily reassigned staff and inmates at the Immokalee Jail Center to the Naples Jail Center.
The move will reduce the cost of operations by more than $300,000, according to CCSO.
The decision was made after a corrections team researched a more cost-effective way to run their business.
Housing all inmates at one jail for 90 days is expected save $100,000 a month.
"We will continue to look at other opportunities throughout CCSO to save money while maintaining current levels of service," said Sheriff Rambosk.
The Immokalee jail will continue to offer 24-hour booking and video visitation.
People released from the Naples jail can get a ride back to Immokalee, CCSO will provide public transportation vouchers.
The reassignment of inmates is possible because of the declining inmate population in Collier County.
