LAWYERS TO DISCUSS CHANGES IN EMPLOYMENT LAW
>>Stephen M. Bernstein and Gregory M. Nichols of Fisher & Phillips LLP ( http://www.laborlawyers.com ), in cooperation with the Eastern Collier County Chamber of Commerce, will give a presentation titled, "2009: A Year of Change in Employment Laws" during a breakfast meeting July 1 at the Seminole Casino in Immokalee. The event is open to the public. Among those who could benefit are in-house counsel, human resource professionals, business owners, risk managers and CEOs. The program qualifies for HRCI Credit. Registration and buffet breakfast will begin at 7:30 a.m., followed by the program from 8 to 10 a.m. Cost is $15 per person. NAPLES HUMANE SOCIETY NAMES MEDICAL DIRECTOR
>>Linda George, DVM, has joined The Humane Society Naples (www.hsnaples.org) as medical director and staff veterinarian at The Humane Animal Clinic, responsible for directing veterinary care for orphaned pets and for operating the Society's clinic, which is open to the public. A graduate of Barron Collier High School, George earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Florida College of Veterinary Medicine. She worked at clinics in Florida and North Carolina before moving to Costa Rica for a year, and then to Paraguay, where she opened her own clinic. She practiced there for three years while teaching at the National University and began an outreach program, taking veterinary students into remote, under-served locations.

SOUS CHEF RETURNS TO BENTLEY VILLAGE
>>Patrick Canning has returned to Bentley Village, a Classic Residence by Hyatt, as sous chef. Born in Ireland and schooled in the culinary arts at Cadogan Hotel in London, Canning moved to the United States in 1992. He worked at Bentley Village from 2000 to 2006.

TLC INSTALLS DIRECTORS

CHARLOTTE STATE BANK COLLECTS SHOES FOR KIDS
>>Charlotte State Bank's ( http://www.charlottestatebank.com ) Murdock office will serve as a collection point for the Sunrise Kiwanis Club of Port Charlotte's Shoes for Kids project. This year's goal is to collect 3,500 new pairs of sneakers for children in need in Charlotte County. A collection bin will be placed in the lobby of the bank at 1100 Tamiami Trail (at the intersection of Paulson Drive). The drive will begin Saturday and continue through July 26.
