"America’s Youngest Duet” Erica Wagner and Nate Huffman, perform a Musical Tribute to Sonny and Cher with "A Step Back In Time."
America’s "Youngest Duet” Erica Wagner and Nate Huffman, delivered a stellar performance as Sonny and Cher in the July 18, Naples Tribute, "A Step Back In Time." The show was based on the Emmy Award Winning Sonny and Cher Comedy Hour which debuted in 1971, and for which Cher also won a Golden Globe Award.
Emerging from a pink stretch limousine for a grand entrance, the young teens seemed larger than life as Sonny and Cher, yet with their own entourage of photographers, videographers and fans. They even had their own bodyguard. Erica owned the crowd as Cher in a sequined sparkling gown belting out some of Cher’s greatest hits like "Dark Lady" and "Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves." In a matching sequined vest and white platform shoes from the 70’s, Nate charmed the crowds with the very same lines that Sonny Bono delivered to Cher so many years ago.
In "A Step Back In Time", Erica and Nate bridged an era of entertainment with the ballads, dance beats and easy listening pop style of Sonny and Cher that made the music icons so famous. Erica and Nate’s nostalgic finale, "I Got You Babe", brought laughter, tears and a standing ovation. No one could believe that they were only thirteen years old.
Erica and Nate were not only the talk of the town, but touched the hearts of Cher fans around the world. The fans that fell in love with Erica and Nate want an encore. What’s next from America’s "Youngest Duet” from Naples? We will have to wait and see. But one thing is for sure, Cher has reinvented herself once again, and the legacy of Sonny and Cher lives on.
A Step Back In Time is a Phyllis Sample Production 2009.
