NAPLES — Collier County Transportation Services Division will receive a $6 million state grant for the Oil Well Road Construction Project.
This is the only project in Florida Department of Transportation District 1, which includes 12 counties, that will receive Transportation Regional Incentive Program (TRIP) money this fiscal year, state officials said in a prepared statement.
The widening project is scheduled to be submitted for construction bids later in the summer. Construction is expected to start in the fall/winter to widen two sections of Oil Well Road.
The section from Immokalee Road to Everglades Boulevard has been designed to be widened from two lanes to four lanes (about 3.3 miles) and the section from Oil Well Grade Road to just east of Ave Maria Boulevard has been designed to be widened from two lanes to six lanes (about 3.8 miles), according to officials.
Construction funding programmed from the Transportation Services Division budget is about $40 million. The $6 million from the state could mean a longer section of the roadway can be widened.
Bid specification packages are currently being compiled for the project.
Contractors interested in bidding on the project can contact the Collier County Purchasing Department at 252-8407."
