COLLIER COUNTY, Fla. -

Realistic-looking signs warning of illegal immigrants were spotted on Radio Road in East Naples on Sunday.

The two signs, attached to legitimate crosswalk signs, read "illegal alien crossing."

Residents in the area say their community is made up primarily of illegal immigrants.

A county worker drove by the signs Sunday afternoon and called it in to county transportation official.

Within 45 minutes, workers were on scene taking the signs down.

The Collier County Sheriff's office says the signs are being investigated as a code violation which comes with a $1,000 fine for each instance.

Additional charges could be filed if the perpetrator is caught.

Residents tell WINK News that a woman was run over and killed crossing the street in the same spot. After that incident a crossing light as well as the signs, were erected.
