$1500 off new air conditioner units in Florida!

Register with us in one easy step!

NAPLES, Fla. - You could save up to 30% off the cost of a new air conditioning system under a new statewide rebate program. Florida has $15 million ready to pass out under the ENERGY STAR Residential HVAC Rebate Program. The rebates are for air conditioners, air source heat pumps, and geothermal heat pumps. The state estimates it has enough money for nearly 10,000 rebates worth up to $1500 apiece.

New unit purchase qualifying must be purchased from Monday, August 30, through December 31 unless the money runs out before the end of the year. Not home will qualify for the rebate program. There are a few things you need to know before making a new purchase.

First, you need to have the air ducts in your home tested by a Florida Class 1 rater, Florida licensed mechanical contractor, or recognized test and balance agent. That test will cost you about $350. You may find that your ducts need to be repaired in order to qualify for the rebate. The program requires that no more than 15% of the cool air produced is leaking. If the test shows your ducts are leaking more than 15%, they will need to be repaired.

The state estimates about 12% of homeowners won't qualify because their ducts cannot be repaired.

FLORIDA ENERGY STAR® RESIDENTIAL HVAC REBATE PROGRAM

The Florida ENERGY STAR® Residential HVAC Rebate Program is designed to encourage existing homeowners to replace their old energy-inefficient heating and cooling system with a properly-sized energy efficient system and to ensure that their heating and cooling duct system has minimal leakage.

Program Start Date: August 30, 2010 – No purchase invoices or installations with dates prior to August 30, 2010, will be accepted.

Program End Date: December 31, 2010, or when the funds are depleted. Purchase any needed repairs to duct work and installation must be completed by this date.

Qualifying Appliances: The following Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning and Cooling (HVAC) standards have been set by the federal government to meet the Federal Energy Tax Credits. Systems that meet the Federal Energy Tax Credits standards will also meet Florida’s ENERGY STAR® Residential HVAC Rebate Program standards.

If you have any concerns whether or not your HVAC system meets these qualifications, we strongly recommend consumers ask their installer for a copy of the AHRI Certificate of Product Ratings or the Manufacturer Certification Statement and attach it to your rebate application.
