This circuit is weak or abnormal in persons with autism or autism spectrum disorder, the researchers said. These people may not experience reward from social interaction. For them, it is a painful experience.

Oxytocin has already been administered to people with autism spectrum disorder during their clinical trials to reduce their communication deficiency. The study has backed oxytocin administration by providing evidence.

However, research conducted on animals may or may not fit to human beings. Results may be completely diverse.
