Horray! A gym for us!
I called on Thursday May 15, 2008 at night. Very friendly tone on the phone. Good first impression.
Friday, May 16th, I went over there around 8:30am. The gym is clean and new. I met with Gerard Bercey, the Manager and Personal Trainer of Premier Fitness Club.
We spoke for a few minutes about the gym, about his plans for the gym and his philosophy. He opened the gym at Wilson Plaza mainly for the #1 reason of all good real estate: Location, location, location.
All of the gyms in Collier County are located in various neighborhoods. If you live in Golden Gate Estates, you typically have to travel across town, break a sweat and come back home, get changed, and go out again. But having a gym in Golden Gate Estates means that those of us living out "at the end of the Earth" as one friend calls it, will have an opportunity to improve our health and sense of well-being. No more excuses, "Oh, the gym is too far." This one isn't.
Gerard's plans are very bold but very attainable. In the near future, you can expect other personal trainers, various programs - I only got to hear just a few of his future plans.
But overall, my impression was very good. It's not a Gold's Gym - it is a LOCAL GYM. Just as we will never see a Publix at Everglades Blvd + Golden Gate Blvd, we will never see a Gold's Gym or Planet Fitness in our neck of the woods. We don't have the zoning for it. It's not "our style" out here. But Premier Fitness Club *does* belong here. Affordable, attainable, approachable, friendly, practical.
Be an "early adopter" - I'll be joining it soon myself and dragging my mother along with me. I'll see too if I can get other family members involved.
No more excuses. Now you have a gym. Join it. Use it. Get healthy already. It's time.

We did three adults in the same family joining at the same time. Saved us quite a bit of money by joining at the same time. Not a bad deal at all!
