Adwords http://adwords.google.com will help visitors find your website and your business! It is especially valuable if you sell things online, but even if you don't, Adwords can make you findable.
You simply need to set up an account with Google's Adwords program and follow their simple instructions. It may SEEM overwhelming at first, but it's just a little more work than posting a classified ad.
It is an especially valuable service for businesses in Collier County, Florida (Naples, FL primarily but also Marco Island, Golden Gate, Immokalee, Everglades City, and other communities), as there are quite a number of Naples based websites which will be showing your ads on a regular basis.
Repetition is key for a successful ad campaign. Allow me to give you an example: Have you ever heard of Mr. Grab Bar? If you have ever read the Naples Daily News for any length of time, you've seen the advertising for Mr. Grab Bar. Now, you may never need a grab bar, but if you did, you'd think of them first. I give them as an example, because I myself think of them when I think of a local Naples example of an ad campaign that uses repetition to get you to remember them.
But it's not just newspapers. Remember Cable TV Classified ad channels? You don't see them as much as you used to, but they're still around. Back when I lived in New Jersey, with a now defunct Cable system called "Suburban Cablevision" back in the 1980's, they had a classified ads station, playing elevator music.
I was a teenager at the time but I would watch this channel with fascination, the blue background with the blocky chunky letters showing up like a bad Atari video game. And I would, without fail, see "Eddie's Valve Grinding".
Now I never met Eddie, and worst yet, I didn't even know what valve grinding was! But I knew if I needed it, I'd go to him first.

You don't have to stay with the program forever either. You can use it for a while, turn it off for a few months or a year, come back to it later. Or when advertising this free website you're on -- I came up with a few catchy slogans, descriptive titles, whatever my creative brain could think of, and before I knew it, I had gained a hundred new members just over a MONTH! Being a free website (free for you, not for me!), I didn't want to keep advertising because it does cost something to use the service -- most advertising that's any good costs something (although there are a lot of great free advertising resources - the good ones can be hard to find - http://free.naplesplus.us - this website, is a great advertising resource for Naples FL and all of Collier County), so I turned off the service after it served my needs.
So, please try Google Adwords, Neapolitan business owner! If you're a plumber, you may show up when someone searches for "Naples Plumber". If you are a roofer, you may show up when someone searches for "Roofing in Naples" or when someone ends up on a business directory page with other roofers on it -- if they are using Google's advertiser publishing feature, there's a good chance that your ad will show up there and people will go to you instead.
It can't hurt, it's easy and it's less expensive than most other forms of advertising (newspaper, magazine, radio, TV)
