RE: MARCO ISLAND KINGFISH TOURNAMENT
The 5th annual Marco Island Kingfish Tournament will take place March 13th and 14th at the Cedar Bay Yacht Club. The one-day event is produced by the Southern Kingfish Association and is the opening event of its Division 11.
“There are three events in the SKA’s Division 11,” said Operations Manager Robert Flocken. “Anglers join the SKA and fish its three events in the Division for two reasons. One, to be crowned the best angler in southwest Florida and second, to earn a berth in the SKA’s National Championship. The winner of the Championship becomes the National Champion, considered to be the toughest title to win in saltwater fishing today.” The other two events are held in Naples and Fort Myers.
The Marco Island event is open to the general fishing community. First prize in the one-day event is $10,000. All boats fishing the event that are classified as 23 feet or less by SKA rules will be competing for $2,000. They are still entitled to win the overall prizes.
