The greyhound track and radio station WAVV 101.1 will combine this tradition of finery for a best derby hat or crazy pants contest that will reward each winner a $500 betting voucher.
The greyhound track will incorporate other Kentucky Derby traditions from Churchill Downs, including mint juleps, a clubhouse dining room buffet and the simulcasting of every race from Louisville.
The doors will open at 9:45 a.m. with the Kentucky Derby scheduled for 6:30 p.m., admission is $4.
Judges and WAVV radio host Paul Conrad will conduct the Derby hat and crazy pants contest starting at 3 p.m. with the winners announced at 5 p.m. A variety of other prizes will be awarded including dinners and weekend stays at the new La Quinta Inn in Bonita Springs.

Description: Living Waters: Aquatic Preserves of Florida, a collection of 29 black-and-white photographs by preeminent Florida photographer Clyde Butcher, will be on exhibit from May 2 through Nov. 14 at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center art gallery, 300 Tower Road in Naples. Since 2004 the artistic and educational exhibition traveled the state to increase awareness of an appreciation for Floridas 41 aquatic preserves. The 110,000-acre Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve encompasses two of those aquatic preserves and more than five million acres of diverse water landscape and coastal areas that are critical to Floridas future. In conjunction with the exhibit, Rookery Bay will show the companion one-hour nature film documentary "Living Waters: Aquatic Preserves of Florida." The film includes an introduction and closing remarks by Butcher and was produced and directed by cinematographer Elam Stoltzfus. Description: In observation of National Arbor day, The Edison & Ford Winter Estates will be planting a coconut palm tree on the Edison Estate to continue the restoration of this historic landscape. Edison Ford Winter Estates has planted a tree every year on Arbor Day to maintain the old fashion plants on the historical site. Mr. and Mrs. Edison themselves planted dozens of coconut palms on their tropical winter estate that eventually became an important and recognizable feature of the Edison and Ford tropical gardens. The public is invited to join in the ceremony with students from the nearby Edison Park Creative and Expressive School for the Arts.
Since 1872 Arbor Day has been a national holiday celebrated each year by planting a tree. The public can support the Edison coconut Palm Restoration Project by contributing funds to purchase a tree. Contributions are tax deductible and include donation signage.
