NaplesNewsTalk.com - An online forum for uncensored chat about the news.
An alternative to the comment section after the articles on the Naples Daily News website.
www.naplesnewstalk.com - Naples News Talk (NNT) is a forum created so that the people in and around Naples, Florida have a place to discuss the news of the day. You may be thinking that this forum is not necessary, because the local paper's website already allows comments at the bottom of each news story. This is true, but there are problems with that system:
* The comments are moderated, and often removed by the paper's staff if they don't like what was said. That will not happen on this forum.
* What if there's a news-worthy story that people want to discuss, but it's not being reported by the local paper? Simply come here, and start a new topic. You be the reporter (and get ready for the mud-slinging from those who disagree with you).
* At the paper's website, there is no way to edit your comments after you have made them. How many times have you noticed a spelling error, or had an additional thought that you want to add right after you hit the submit button?
* The comments at the paper's site are not arranged into threads. In order to reply to someone's message, you have to refer to it by number, and people reading have to scroll all around to follow the conversation. Here, all replies will appear under the original comment in a hierarchical fashion, and you can use the "quote" feature to make your reply even more clear.
* On this forum, you can use formatting in your messages, emoticons to express your feeling, and embed pictures and even video into your messages.
In short, this forum has a much more advanced feature set which will enhance the discussion atmosphere and allow you to get your opinion across more clearly, and without censorship.
NNT does not take a position on anything. This forum is not associated with a political party, or any other group. The opinions are those of the users. It's just a forum for people to use. Your words are your words, and they will not be altered here. To avoid a conflict of interest, as the administrator, I will not participate in the discussions.
When you create an account, you are asked for your email address, date of birth, and gender. You can control whether this information is public or private. NNT will never send you unsolicited email or share your email address with ANYONE. You are welcome to use NNT without entering a valid email address, but you will not be able to use advanced features such as private messaging. I have no control over that, otherwise I would allow full use of the board without asking for any information. What I'm trying to say is, I don't care who you are, I don't collect your personal information, and it won't be shared under any circumstances. You can remain anonymous to whatever extent you like.
NNT does not generate any money, and it never will. That is not the purpose of this site. In fact, it costs a small bit to register the domain name. If you see ads on this site, they are put there by the company that runs the forum software and servers. The purpose of NNT is simply to offer an alternative place for Naples residents to voice their opinions about whatever they feel is newsworthy.
Use your head around here. I'm not going to censor the posts, so think about what you write before you post it. Words can get you in real trouble, even with the law. I don't want the Secret Service knocking on my door at 2:00am because someone on here threatened the President. Now that I think about it, if someone posts something that is unquestionably illegal, I will erase it. I don't expect that will happen, though, right?
I put the work into setting this place up so everyone would enjoy it. Have fun with it. Make it what you want. I am open to any and all suggestions. You can post them in the Comments & Suggestions board, or you can contact me directly via PM or email (admin@naplesnewstalk.com). Enjoy.
