Naples, FL ,January 4, 2010 –A Very Special Evening for Very Special People, to benefit the Foundation for Developmentally Disabled, will take place on Saturday, February 20, 2010, at the St. John the Evangelist Kiney Hall located in North Naples at 625 111th Avenue. Master of Ceremonies will be Trey Radel, WINK TV news anchor. The celebration begins with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by dinner, dancing, auctions and a special recognition ceremony.

The gala evening, in its fifth year, and will include both a silent auction with lots of wonderful items such as theater tickets, spa certificates, portrait packages and home services as well as an exciting live auction. County Commissioner Jim Coletta and Sheriff Kevin Rambosk will be the featured auctioneers who will tempt the crowd with treasures and pleasures such as a pearl and diamond ring, brunch at the Port Royal Club with the Mayor and first lady of Naples, a golf foursome at Pelican Marsh and an extreme experience of soaring high over Boca Raton with Pilot Dr. Tony Rogers in his L-39 Albatross plane which he named Doc Hollywood.

The final auction item of the evening will be a chance for a special donor to send a special recipient to the all-inclusive Camp Thunderbird week-long camping adventure. Camp Thunderbird, located in Apopka, Florida, provides a summer camp experience tailored to the special needs of children and adults with developmental disabilities.

The Foundation for the Developmentally Disabled strives to advocate for an enhanced quality of life for citizens of Collier County who are developmentally disabled. The enhanced quality of life includes providing affordable housing, increased community awareness of the unique worth of these individuals; social and recreational activities and to serve as a support group for their families.
