Because of the Make-A-Wish Foundation’s fifth annual Wishmaker’s Ball, 12 wishes will be granted for Southwest Florida children.

It was an exciting evening for the Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Southern Florida as Wish families and guests arrived for the Wishmaker’s Ball at the Club at The Strand of Naples.

The fifth annual ball featured a wonderful cocktail hour in the Club’s garden terrace and included an exquisite array of appetizers and a wide selection of silent auction items. Guests moved inside the Club immediately after cocktails for dinner, a live auction, an Adopt-A-Wish opportunity, and entertainment by Jimmy Keys.

Amy Sedlacek of Norman Love Confections® served as emcee and also conducted the Adopt-A-Wish segment of the evening. She got the crowd enthused about the mission and encouraged the audience to raise their hands in support. Hands went up around the room to sponsor a full wish, half a wish and so on. Because of this magical evening, 12 wishes will come true for children in Southwest Florida.

Two Wish families attending the Ball spoke immediately following dinner about their experiences and individual wishes. Each Wish child spoke about their own wish. Listening to each child speak about how their wish impacted their life was heartwarming and inspiring, to say the least. Each parent added comments about how a Wish can make a difference in a child’s life. One parent put it so eloquently when he said that for one weekend their child didn’t worry about health issues – it was a vacation from their norm – no nurses, doctor visits and worry. He added that most people really don’t realize how much stress is added to a child’s life when they have a medical condition that they must live with day in and day out.

“We really appreciate everyone who attended the Ball and helped to make it a success. Our mission is to grant wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions and we needed local businesses and individuals to get involved in anyway they could. And they did… we had wonderful sponsors and donors who made the evening possible and we want to thank them for helping to make wishes come true,” said Norm Wedderburn, president and CEO of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Southern Florida.
