UK Models are recognised as the ‘number one model support service in the United Kingdom’.

June 23, 2013 – UK Models are recognised as the ‘number one model support service in the United Kingdom’. Priding themselves on their making of professional, industry standard portfolios, the team have worked with thousands of men, women and children guiding and advising them through their first steps into the industry.

With over twelve years’ experience and a wealth of success stories behind them, a number of aspiring models that have worked with uk models have gone on to shine in the advertising, catalogue and high-fashion worlds. A real determination and passion for success is vital to succeed in modelling, but if a model boasts those fundamental qualities, UK Models can provide them with the best advice and resources to help make their career dreams become a reality. By offering the opportunity of a professional photo shoot (which sees models working in collaboration with hair and make-up artists, stylists and photographers), aspiring models are able to gain real life experience whilst building their own professional portfolio. Not everyone enjoys this process or indeed flourishes under the spotlight but UK Models are honest when they advise each person on their career potential.

How? After an aspiring model has applied to UK Models via an online application form, a member of the New Faces team will make contact and invite them down to one of their fully equipped London studios. Not every model is given this opportunity; only males, females and children showing a fundamental skill set and model appropriate look are chosen.

Upon arrival at the studio, each model is allocated a four-hour slot in which they will be professionally styled and photographed. Alongside studio sessions, each model will be invited to have their picture taken on location. Various looks will be created by a team of professional hair and make-up artists, each model will also be encouraged to change into different outfits throughout the day. Together, a striking set of pictures will be created. Following on from the photo shoot, models are invited to have their work critiqued by an experienced member of the UK Models team; strengths will be highlighted, weaknesses will be discussed and together the model and advisor will decide whether trying to further their career is a suitable option or not. If the outcome is a positive one, each model is given the opportunity to buy their pictures that were taken throughout the day. This is not compulsory but it is a route UK Models advise. Why? Although it is not compulsory for a model to own a working portfolio, it is considered a highly beneficial tool in the industry. Acting as a model’s CV, a portfolio displays a model’s pictures in one easy to access place, thus allowing agencies and clients to gage an understanding of a model’s ability to pose in front of the camera without having to conduct a photo shoot themselves. Understanding that a bad portfolio can turn agencies and clients off immediately, therefore preventing a model from finding work, UK Models have spent many years fine-tuning their services to give models the highest and most consistent level of portfolio packages. Along with a printed book, UK Models are proud to offer digital portfolios, efolios and Z cards. For those interested in becoming a model, this process is highly beneficial. At no point do UK Models shy away from the cost implications of a portfolio. The first stage of model advice (when a model applies online and then receives honest but professional feedback from a member of the New Faces team) is 100% free and can be achieved by logging onto the Internet (or the newly re-launched UK Models app) and uploading a head shot of themselves. The second stage, known as the photo shoot deposit, is a fully refundable £50 fee. This charge has been put in place to protect the team of photographers, stylists and hair and make-up artists should a model not show up for their allocated slot. The four-hour photo shoot that follows is entirely free. A model can undergo a series of transformations and at the end of the day, if they do not like their pictures, can return home without departing with any money. If a model chooses to take their portfolio pictures home with them, however, charges will apply. Stated on the UK Models website and explained in full detail at the London studios, prices will depend on the amount of photographs chosen and in what format a model decides to have their portfolio produced.
