Volanté Systems recently upgraded their restaurant Point of Sale infrastructure located at University of British Columbia.
Canada,21st October 2013 - Volanté Systems recently upgraded their restaurant Point of Sale infrastructure located at University of British Columbia. This is a large university spread over an area of 402 hectares and supporting over 50,000 members of faculty and students. Presence of a flexible and efficient enterprise grade POS was their utmost necessity because it could ensure streamlined operations.
As IT manager at UBC, Sean Lee commented, "The old system used to lump all the data together, and it was difficult getting reporting from all the different systems. We couldn't isolate daily sales if polling wasn't done regularly."
Presence of mixed technology at the University with an unreliable POS offering minimal interoperability made things difficult and disorganized. When Volanté came on the scene, their main goal was to develop single software solution for the ailing restaurant POS that existed on-campus. The aim was to save money, generate revenues, and increase productivity and do away with the unnecessary complications that limited performance.
Organizing the different meal plans related to different on-campus residences was the biggest challenge. Poor data management made it difficult to detect employee errors in real-time. Installation of Volanté POS built around the student card of UBC and by mixing Linux/Windows topologies have resolved most of the burning issues faced by the University. Now meal plans are available across 50 pubs, cafeterias, restaurants, and on-campus retail shops.
The upgraded POS features include encapsulated information tracking for students, multiple meal plans, use of access card, tracking of reward points, and gift cards. Other features are an integrated POS scale usage, debit/credit card authorization, inventory control, recipe pricing, beverage monitoring, and kitchen video, among others.
