Fibromyalgia and quality of life

20th November 2013 (http://www.kamagrajellyrx.com/) : Fibromyalgia is a group of rheumatoid diseases without any cure. This disease usually affects women more than men. Although women in all age groups are prone to it, a new research suggests that those women who are young or middle-aged are more likely to suffer from worse symptoms of Fibromyalgia and poor quality of life than older women affected by this disease.

Women who suffer from Fibromyalgia often complain of fatigue, sleep disturbances, memory problems and musculoskeletal pain. The disorder has no known causes. Severity of symptoms and effect of Fibromyalgia on quality of life is different for different age groups.

The study involved 978 participants who were diagnosed with Fibromyalgia. Based on their age, they were divided into three group- age 39 and younger, 50 to 59 and 60 and above. Younger women were more likely to be unmarried, well-educated, employed, smokers and have lower BMI. However, they were also more prone to history of abuse and have Fibromyalgia symptoms for shorter period of time. Contrary to this expectation, participants in all the three age groups reported lower quality of life than average US woman. And the differences were significant in younger women.

In addition to that, it was also observed that 7% of Fibromyalgia patients don’t respond to treatment compared to other rheumatic disease patients. They also had inflammatory rheumatic conditions. They also have skin related problems like burning sensation and excessive sweating.

The above stated findings were presented at a medical conference and as long as they are not published in peer reviewed journal, data and conclusions should be considered preliminary.
