Importance Of Abnormal Pap Test

Pap test is done by women to find the cells on the cervix that can harm her by turning it in to cancer. When doctor asks a woman to have a Pap test and if the test was not found normal, it doesn’t mean that she has been affected by cancer disease. It just shows that there are cells and the chance of getting caused by cancer is also there. Abnormal cells on the cervix of a woman can be caused by certain types of human papillomavirus (HPV), a sexually transmitted infection. Sometimes, it is caused by many other types of infections such as bacteria or yeast, or a woman who have been through menopause example older women’s have high chances of finding cell changes in the cervix. Abnormal cell changes in the cervix can lead to many symptoms such as rashes, lumps, blister, sores or warts around the genitals. Also there would be pain, burn, or itchiness around the genitals area that a woman may feel, especially while doing urinating or sex, change in the amount, color, odor, and/or textures while discharging from vagina. Along with abnormal Pap test, a doctor may suggest a patient to have few more tests like colposcopy (look at vagina and cervix through lighted magnifying tool, and a Pap test again after 4-6 months. Some more steps a woman can take along with pap test is she should stop smoking, should use protection while having sexual relationship.
