(bring a blanket or chair) A home owner in Naples Park has graciously offered the empty lot next to his house for a community garden. Although located in Naples Park, the garden will be shared with the Naples community at large. The garden will consist of a multitude of beds, managed by families or individuals and will be planted with vegetables and/or flowers and possibly a fruit tree or two. Hopefully it will expand to be quite large, but it could start out as small as a plastic container or two filled with soil to tilling the entire lot. This event is an initial meeting to find out if there is any interest at all in taking on this project, and can include people with or without gardening knowledge. Trial and error it may be...... but, it would be great if we had some experienced vegetable and floral gardeners, water pump experts (details at the meeting), garden planners, and anyone else interested in sharing their time and commitment. If gardening is not your thing, perhaps you might help with drawing plans, organizing or..... dare I say, a small investment as things progress. |
