Health Canada Sanctions RU-486 Pill for Medical Abortion

This medicine is also recalled as Mifepristone and causes anti-progesterone actions, limiting fetus growth by taking away oxygen and nutrients from the same. Ambrose had gone against her department’s decision in 2013 fall by opining that it was a completely opposed to anti-drug policy of the government. She claimed that government will seal the loopholes found for special medicine access programs. Ambrose lashed out saying that she will not speculate on any reactions. But, Bolkenius did not confirm in making comments. The Harper government went against the pregnancy termination issue as it had voted opposed to their MP’s efforts of bringing up the matter. Social orthodox groups like Campaign Life Coalition opposed the early abortion pill for greater than 15 years now, and continue to do so, saying that the product leads to mental trauma and is unsafe for women’s health. The groups appealed to Stephen Harper (Canada’s Prime Minister), and Ambrose to cease distribution of RU-486. Jim Hughes the president of Campaign Life Coalition finds the medicine as human pesticide that kills unborn child and causes harm to women. He consented to the fact that in 2001, the clinical trails for the tablet was stopped because a woman died and 14 more deaths took place in United States after consumption of the product. However, Vicki Saporta, president of the National Abortion Federation said that RU-486 is effective and safer to end a pregnancy than the existing medical means to inhibit growth of fetus in uterus. As per her opinion, Canadian women will now get pregnancy ending care of gold standard. She did say that the tablet will allow females to undergo pregnancy end earlier than in surgical aspiration. Rural women will have direct and better access to the method, than having to wait for professional abortionist from their community. The drug is approved in over 50 counties, whereas United States has allowed utilization of it for 15 years, and France licensed it in the year of 1988. The abortion pill cost has relatively come down and more people are able to purchase the product. Mifegymiso will contain two packs, the green one consisting of one RU-486 tablet to discontinue pregnancy, and the orange pack will have 4 pills of Misoprostol brining uterus contraction in widening the cervix. Women with ectopic pregnancy or the ones with intrauterine contraceptive in place will not be prescribed the medicine. Females will have to undertake ultrasound test and a follow-up meet after 14 days, with emergency care at hand during the procedure, if required. The abortion pill price will be kept minimal to ensure the needy can get the product as well. The product manufacturer has agreed in creating awareness programs and patient support for those using the medicine.
