NAPLES: If you're looking for some big bargains, Collier County government wants to make you a deal this weekend.
But only if the price is right.
Collier County government is holding its annual auction to sell off more than 250 items the county no longer needs. This year, items include everything from trucks, to printers, to TV’s - even furniture.
For the buyer, it means an opportunity to set a price and take home what you win.
For Collier County, it's a chance to bring in $400,000-$500,000 for the county’s general fund.
This year, organizers say every penny generated from the auction means much more because of the county’s current financial uncertainty.
“Governments are in a very compressed revenue situation right now, and in an effort to not raise taxes and not reduce services, the sale, the revenue that comes from this sale is very important. It is revenue that helps offset the need to apply more taxes,” said Steve Carnell, Collier County’s Purchasing Director.
Bidding for the auction starts at 9 a.m. Saturday on the south end of the Naples Airport.
All you need to bring with you to bid is some form of identification, such as a driver's license.
