The Washington Post, The New York Times and other publications have condemned the Helms Amendment.

15th sept 2015, United States(http://www.mtpabortionpill.com/) : The Helms Amendment does not allow United States foreign aid for abortion as a means to family planning. The proposition is actually a complete ban on required pregnancy termination for victims of incest, rape and when mother’ life is threatened. Those who are poor choose unsafe methods to end their pregnancy and are not able to access anti-progesterone medicine, Mifeprex online, but encounter incomplete abortion, blood infection, excessive hemorrhage and eventually death.

The CEO of KMET (Kenyan organization working for underserved communities in offering quality healthcare services for reproductive system), Monica Oguttu said that pregnant rape victims coming to their clinic for assistance are not being able to procure emergency contraception, prophylactics, counseling or medical aid due to Helms Amendment. Most of them are unable to obtain abortion pill online due to lack of prescription and right to reproductive health.

She addressed Broadly over a Skype call that they cannot help women end pregnancy even if they know that those people have suffered rape. It is frustrating to see the person crying and later find the same in hospital, affected by complications caused by unsafe pregnancy termination. They cannot choose the Mifeprex buy online option, as finances fall short. Statistics report that in every 11 minutes, a female dies because of risky abortion, and in an annum, millions sustain severe injuries due to the same.

Due to lack of legal services of U.S. Government on overseas medical grant for abortion, even the wartime people who encountered rape and incest are left without assistance to pregnancy termination. The Helms Amendment is in place since 1973, and it does not contain laws favoring such sufferers. The director of advocacy at PAI, Jonathan Rucks said this amendment has serious repercussion on females worldwide, as the U.S health programs reach to 45 countries, and faulty provisions are nothing less than a peril.

The most appalling demerit of Helms Amendment is that females from conflict areas subjected to rape cannot gain safe access to buy abortion pill even on the humanitarian grounds, and these include wartime rape and pregnant victims. The federal funding does not extend to these people. The Boko Haram aspect of Islamis State supports rape as their ideology and devastates many women with sexual violence. It is shocking how U.S. government of Obama has failed to correct the laws for tortured women.

The Washington Post, The New York Times and other publications have condemned the Helms Amendment. The United Nations Human Rights Council asked U.S. Government to explain their actions. But, there has been no positive reinforcement from U.S. on the query yet. While those in the country can freely get Mifeprex online without restriction, the foreign aid policy is nothing less than a mystery. Rucks say that President Obama can save several women, but unfortunately no action is being taken in Helms act.

People cannot purchase manual vacuum aspiration (MVA) kit with funding of U.S. federal, which is saving tool in ending a pregnancy and dealing with incomplete abortion. Neither can people buy abortion pill online with the same. Because of stringent restrictions, the percentage of women getting illegal and unsafe procedures to terminate pregnancy has increased, contributing to the mortality rate. The U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) funding is only for training officials for post-abortion care and family planning.

The KMET clinic professionals are already well-trained for the pregnancy ending procedures, but lack the tools for conducting the same, when it comes to rape victims etc. Even the Mifeprex buy online alternative falls short, as females rather undergo quick surgical (illegal and dangerous) processes to overcome the incest or rape ordeal. Around 47,000 females die every year of the complications from such illegal procedures. MVA Kit can help women in 15 minutes, but KMET cannot do the same with USAID funding.

Oguttu is still hopeful that one day soon things will change and they will be able to buy abortion pill and other relevant tools with USAID, once the Helms is turned positive on humanitarian grounds. This approach will allow clinics to offer safe services to incest and tortured females who cannot carry out a full term pregnancy, even if she supports life of the child. She was of the opinion that delaying the rights does not stop people from prohibiting pregnancy ending, but raises the risk to unsafe measures for the same.
