TheStoodent has worked over the last 6 years for kids in slums across Pune & Mumbai. It has been largely done with the help of friends and some foes.
26th September 2015, Pune - TheStoodent was formed as a student organization in 2009 with a magazine named “IT Rockrz” by Orungootan Kabusa. TheStoodent has worked over the last 6 years for kids in slums across Pune & Mumbai. It has been largely done with the help of friends and some foes. All people have contributed with their heart, soul and some funds.
We started off in a small room in a slum with activities that shall help the students (aged 9 to 15) in their studies. Theatre games were used to help them understand and get hold of some Mathematics, science concepts. Ideas and experiences were shared on how to plan the career ahead. Guidance was provided during exams and exam materials were given as a compliment for the hard work. We believe that we don’t do anything out of the box but we feel we are making a tiny change in the atmosphere we grew in. We follow the rule: We are responsible for the environment we grew in and for the change caused here with.
Over a period of time we have gathered some talented bunch of intellects, artists and people who have contributed in ways they could. Some people have helped us paint the room; some have helped us create some graffiti’s, some contributed with jokes and some with funds. Everything has helped us move ahead. We aren’t complaining and would love to have you on board. We love to have your contribution of time and skills that shall be of great value (more than money!).
We were able to survive with funds from friends till now. We use these funds to help our projects and pay for services of people we hire for the cause. We use our website and personal sources for income in funding these small projects. We shall continue to do so. We plan to offer student scholarships or student sponsorships to students who well deserve and really need it in near future.
