The retired physicians who donate their time and expertise to the Friendship Health Clinic Collier were thanked for their dedication at the Diamond Volunteer Award reception held for 2011 winner, Senior Friendship Centers.

The Senior Friendship Centers’ volunteers, who give of their time, medical expertise and energy to the Friendship Health Clinic Collier, were honored recently as part of the Diamond Volunteer Program. A wine and cheese reception was held to honor the retired physicians, dentists, nurses and other medical professionals, who cumulatively volunteer over 7,000 hours each year, to aid adults 50 years old and older who are uninsured or underinsured.

Betty Gamel accepted the Diamond Volunteer Awards presented by Kelly E. Capolino, local real estate professional and founder of the program. The award honored and recognized well deserving volunteers for their devotion and efforts to serve and save lives at the Friendship Health Clinic.

The reception was held on March 12 and was the last in series for 2011. Other groups honored this year by the Diamond Volunteer Program were: Hope for Haiti, Bedtime Bundles and Sunlight Home, all local non-profit organizations located in Collier County.

The Diamond Volunteer reception was held in the ninth floor property of Jack and Connie Kindsvater located at The Residences at Pelican Isle Yacht Club. “It was again an honor to donate our property to this wonderful program and this deserving group of volunteers. My wife and I have been very impressed with what we have learned and seen thus far,” Mr. Kindsvater said.

Capolino reminded the volunteers that the Diamond Volunteer Program has three components. The first is the Diamond Volunteer Award, the second is the educational seminars that we organize for non-profits during the summer, and the third part of the program is the Diamond Volunteer Rewards. The Reward Program is just another way for non-profits to generate extra donations. Capolino has pledged 15% of her real estate commission to any non-profit organization that mentions the Diamond Volunteer program when buying or selling a property.

“It’s pretty simple, a client just needs to mention what non-profit they would like to donate to, we have several organizations that have taken advantage of this program this past year. This is just one more way the organization can do fundraising,” added Capolino.

The night also included a check presentation to Project Help, who took part in the Diamond Volunteer Rewards Program.
