Successful and memorable evening had by all as Bedtime Bundles and Sunlight Home shared a wine and cheese reception held in their honor as winners of the 2011 Diamond Volunteer Award.

Two local non-profits, Bedtime Bundles and Sunlight Home, were honored recently as part of the Diamond Volunteer Program. A wine and cheese reception was held to honor both groups at The Residences at Pelican Isle Yacht Club on February 10. Each year there are three local non-profits that are chosen, however, this year there was a tie and four were selected. Both, Bedtime Bundles and Sunlight Home, were honored and given awards for the work their volunteers do in our community at the joint reception.

On behalf of their organizations, Linda Hale, Director of Sunlight Home and Rob Reiley of Bedtime Bundles accepted the Diamond Volunteer Awards presented by Kelly E. Capolino, local real estate professional and founder of the program. The awards honored and recognized well deserving volunteers for their devotion and efforts in their respective organizations.

Bedtime Bundles was honored for their work with children of migrant farm workers. This organization was formed in 2006 and has been providing migrant children with the bare essentials of food, clothing, blankets, hygiene products, first aid supplies, as well as, gently used shoes, books and possibly their only toy. These items are bundled into a pillowcase and given to children who often come to our area with literally nothing but the clothes on their back. Bedtime Bundles provides the basic necessities to the innocent victims of circumstance. For more info about this organization, visit their website at www.bedtimebundles.org or cal 239-393-3415.

Sunlight Home is a Christian maternity home for pregnant women of all ages. The residential program for pregnant women and teens is a five bed facility offering spiritual, physical and emotional wholeness by teaching problem solving and life skills to moms in crisis. They assist with counseling, job training, schooling, as well as, parenting and child birth classes, nutrition and prenatal care, and the option of adoption. The residents are allowed to stay at the home on a situational basis. Stays can be as long as two year and as short as one day. The home receives no government funding and is supported through donations and private grants. They will be holding their Annual Fashion Show and Luncheon on March 22, 2011 at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club. For details of this event or to learn more about Sunlight Home visit http://www.sunlighthome.org or call 239-352-0251.

The Diamond Volunteer reception was held in the ninth floor property of Jack and Connie Kindsvater located at The Residences at Pelican Isle Yacht Club. “It was an honor to donate our property to this wonderful program. My wife and I have been very impressed with what we have learned and seen thus far,” Mr. Kindsvater said.

“The two organizations had a wonderful time networking and talking with one another during the reception. We may even combine them next year it was such a success,” said Capolino. “I can’t express the amount of admiration I have for both, Bedtime Bundles and Sunlight Home, they are such needed organizations and meet the needs of so many people that we sometimes forget. Both groups give me goose bumps when they talk about their missions and their work.”

Capolino added, “The Diamond Volunteer Program has three components. The first is the Diamond Volunteer Award, the second is the educational seminars that we organize for non-profits during the summer, and the third part of the program is the Diamond Volunteer Rewards. The Reward Program is just another way for non-profits to generate extra donations. I have pledged of 15% of my real estate commission to any non-profit organization that mentions the Diamond Volunteer program when buying or selling a property. It’s pretty simple, a client just needs to mention what non-profit they would like to donate to, we have several organizations that have taken advantage of this program this past year. This is just one more way the organization can do fundraising.”
