The sold out beach party event was a splash hit that raised funds for improvements to Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park.

There wasn’t a green flash from the sun but there were plenty of green flash day-glow glasses on the horizon according to the Friends of Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. The second annual “GREEN FLASH” Sunset Celebration was held on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park. The sold out event will surely go down as one of the season’s best parties on the beach!

With over 130 people in attendance, the party came to life in a casual atmosphere on the beach while maintaining an element of sophistication. The flair for the elite came from the superb service, appetizers that were passed on the beach by wait staff in black and white, and the beautifully decorated beach setting.

“What a great surprise. We entered the park and traveled to the far end where we found an oasis. We were greeted by the Green Flash fairy, promptly given a day-glow Green Flash martini glass, directed to the sunset on the beach where the catering staff surprised everyone with awesome hand passed appetizers. The event was first class and one of the best parties that I have ever attended in Naples,” said Diane Westphal, party attendee and founder of Your Home Watch Professionals. “I saw the event posted by a friend on Facebook and decided to attend. I’ll be back next year for sure.”

Attendees enjoyed sunset cocktails and appetizers on the beach including a souvenir “GREEN FLASH” glow glass. The evening continued with tropical music, silent auction, and a sunset photography demonstration. The night included a fully catered dinner that was elegant and delicious. Guests sat at picnic tables that were covered with fine white linens with seashell centerpieces – it was a casually elegant night of sun, fun, food and entertainment. Guests were overheard talking about the uniqueness of the event and the ‘fun factors’ involved.

The event ended with special guest guitarist, Russell Tuff, leading the group in songs around the beach bonfire. The sold out event was made possible by the sponsors, organizers, the Friends of Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, and the park rangers.

Funds raised will be used for upgrades in the Park including a new Boardwalk to be built through the mangroves to Little Turkey Bay. This will provide access to the largest undisturbed areas of the Park and allow guests to experience various eco-systems through the mangroves to the Estuary.

Sponsors for the event were: Fleur de Lis Event Designs, Lite 93.7, E. Sue Huff & Associates, Inc., Scott Lowery Landscape, Inc., Brooks Insurance Company, Moraya Bay, Naples Computer Inc., New York Pizza and Pasta, , Specialists in Urology, The Turtle Club at Vanderbilt Beach, New York Pizza and Pasta, Daniela’s restaurant, Edison State College collier Campus, Friends of Florida State Parks, and Emmanuel Lutheran Church.

The Friends of Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park is funded solely by public contributions and does not receive federal grants. Your support as a partner in any event helps to ensure proceeds raised go to the positive upgrades and improvements to Collier County’s treasured beachfront park.
