Aspirin may not be effective for certain people in combatting strokes and heart attacks, according to a new study published.

9th july, 2013 (http://www.kamagrarx.co/) - Aspirin may not be effective for certain people in combatting strokes and heart attacks, according to a new study published. The study's blood-based test of gene activity revealed a level of resistance to it because of a genetic effect on the cardiovascular system. The research also adds to the potential for a future test to see who will benefit from it and who will not. A clue about individual people’s risk of getting a heart attack is also given by the researchers.

It has been widely used as medication for heart disease and stroke patients and also used for its blood-thinning capabilities for the last fifty years. Doctors, however have been unclear about how it works and why it doesn't help all heart patients.

The researchers analyzed two groups of healthy volunteers and one group suffering from heart disease. As a part of their treatment the heart disease patients were given a low dosage of it. The healthy volunteers for up to one month were prescribed a 325g dosage of it each day. The researchers then looked at the impact of it on the function of gene expression and the blood cells responsible for clotting, and the function of platelets.

As well as measuring the effectiveness of aspirin, the researchers say that the genetic response signature can also act as a predictor of patients who are at risk of a heart attack. There is something about the biology of platelets that determines how well we respond to it and we can now capture that with a genomic signature in blood.

This work may ultimately lead to a simple blood test to identify those who do not benefit from it, enabling them to seek other therapeutic options.
