According to a new study the researchers revealed that men and women who smoke face similar stroke risks, but female smokers are considered to be at a greater risk.

16 September 2013, USA (http://www.realpharmacyrx.co/) : According to a new study the researchers revealed that men and women who smoke face similar stroke risks, but female smokers are considered to be at a greater risk for more deadly and less common type of stroke.

The researches collected and examined the data, and discovered that smoking is associated with more than 50 percent increased risk of ischemic stroke in both men and women. This type of stroke is the most common one and occurs when a blood clot blocks blood flow to the brain.

According to the findings women who smoked were 17 percent more likely to suffer a bleeding stroke than men who smoked. They also discovered that men and women who smoked can reduce the impact of smoking by quitting it.

The study also noted that women who smoke have greater increase in fats, triglycerides and cholesterol as compared to men who smoke. Hormones and the way nicotine affects blood fats shows the increased risk for bleeding strokes among women who smoke.

Cigarette smoking is considered as a major risk factor for stroke in both men and women, but luckily quitting smoking can help reduce the risk of stroke. Quitting it is considered as a highly effective way to lower the risk of stroke.

Although the research highlighted the association between smoking women and an increased risk of hemorrhagic stroke it did not prove a cause and effect relationship. The risk of stroke decreases steadily after quitting smoking. Approximately, 50% of the elevated risk is reduced within 1 year of quitting smoking.
