10th October 2013, USA (http://www.realpharmacyrx.co/): -Diagnosed with High Blood pressure and cursing your poor health habits? Well, maybe you shouldn’t. You might be the one in a million (Aren’t you proud?)The secret cause-Conn’s syndrome might be the actual cause of your high blood pressure. Don’t worry. We have discovered cure for this disease. Conn's disease is a syndrome of the adrenal glands connecting excess creation of a hormone, called aldosterone. A different name for the situation is primary hyperaldosteronism.

Conn’s syndrome is an endocrinal disorder where adrenal gland situated in abdomen starts over -functioning. As a result, there is excessive secretion of hormone aldosterone which causes high blood pressure-the sole symptom. It usually occurs on account of benign tumor in one adrenal (adenoma) or enlargement of both the adrenals (bilateral hyperplasia). Reason for this bizarre behavior of adrenals is unknown.

In the most of patients a tiny tumor is found in the adrenal cortex. Over creation of aldosterone by the tumor leads to the enlargement of Conn’s syndrome with high blood pressure and low potassium levels. Not all patients with a Conn’s syndrome will have a tumor.

Diagnosis is done by measurement of aldosterone and renin levels. In Conn’s syndrome, elevated aldosterone level is detected and the renin level is very low. Special scans of adrenal glands are conducted. Blood can be directly taken from adrenals via a catheter inserted in adrenal veins. Medications like Spironolactone, eplerenone are given. Surgical removal (unilateral adrenalectomy) can be administered in case of adenoma.

Patients with adenoma can stop drug treatment after some months and can have normal blood pressure levels. However, patients with bilateral hyperplasia may need lifelong treatment.
