oh Vinegar, how you saved me!

We have company coming next week (end of July 2007), and the front of our bay window had long-standing hard water stains on them.

i tried ammonia. No good.

I tried dish soap. No good.

I used a squeegue. Nothing changed.

In frustration, I looked it up. Some people use CLR or Lime-Away or Brillo pads (with a light touch) on hard water stains.

then I remembered that vinegar is an acid like Lime-away.

Put some apple cider vinegar on a rap. Wiped in circles, left right, top bottom, and dried it off with the squeegue.

Done! hard water stains are gone!

So, Vinegar really DOES get rid of hard water stains. The webmaster of free.naplesplus.us - the guy whose picture is everywhere here - confirms that it does work.

Vinegar is an Acid. Acids cut through calcium. You can use vinegar to lower the PH of a pool - it is that strong (and i have used it in our pool in a pinch and it works).

Lemon juice and stomach acid are two acids that are stronger than vinegar, but I think vinegar is cleaner and neater and safer.
