Acapella, Classic Rock, Disco, Motown but mostly “A Little Dab of Doo Wop” and it’s a swinging afternoon with Brylcream’s “four guys and a gal” in concert at Unity of Bonita Springs. Ring in the spring with one of the few remaining a cappella groups for whom accompaniment is a bonus, not a requirement.

Cool T. Wopp, 'T Bone,' Alan Gilbert, 'Billy D' Louth and Victoria Jennings bring southwest Florida original and requested Motown, Classic Rock, Disco and Doo Wop sounds.

Dr. John "Wopp" Mina started singing doo-wop in 1973 with his first group "Johnny Crash and the Hot Rods." He and "Richie" Beattie, put together "Brylcream" and has been directing the group since 1991.

"Wopp" does many of the original Brylcream arrangements. Two original songs recorded by Brylcream, “Rockin' the Neighborhood" and "Ready to go", were written by John Mina and Roy Schelper. Concert attendees may expect more original songs that are available for purchase at the concert and online.

Tom “Cool T” Welter took up Barbershop singing in ‘91, and joined Brylcream in 1992.

“We are one of the few truly acapella groups remaining today,” said Billy D, second tenor and lead on many Brylcream songs. “We don’t need musical accompaniment to rock the house – but we do bring all the favorite tunes that take the audience down memory lane and then some.”

Billy “D” grew up in the Motor City and performed with such notables as Diana Ross and the Supremes, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, and Nathanial Mayer (“Village of Love”).

He joined Brylcream in the 1990’s. Recently, he traveled with the current “Crests.” “The Crests” and “Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge” were featured on a 50s/60s Carnival Cruise.

As a young boy, growing up in a rural area of New York State, T-Bone™ sang in minstrel shows and County Fairs. T-Bones' deep bass voice has become a staple to the group’s energetic and popular performances since 2004.

Alan G.’s vocal harmony combined with his piano playing skills got him involved with Greasy Joe & The Surfboards in the '70s. A Battle of the Bands in Ridgewood, New Jersey included Pegasus – the future KISS. Alan G. remains active with harmony, music, and having fun. He still spins in his hula hoop while crooning one of his favorite tunes.

Victoria's mother is a member of the award winning Sweet Adeline’s chorus, Spirit of the Gulf. Victoria, a new member of the ensemble, and one of the few females singing in a cappella ensembles, was the Italian opera singer at Macaroni Grill. Her current style is inspired by Linda Eder, Martina McBride, Amy Grant and Barbara Streisand.

In addition to their performances as Brylcream, many of the members sing barbershop and with other groups when they are not assembled as Brylcream. Their talent and vocal range is in demand in the southwest Florida area at entertainment night spots and private parties.
