The researchers analyzed various studies to see whether there was an association between brain and migraine lesions, brain volume changes or silent abnormalities.
The researchers looked at the MRI scans of patients with common migraines or migraines with aura. Migraine with aura is when a person suffers from the presages before the onset of the migraine. These MRI scans were then compared with those people not suffering from the disorder. The results declared that those who had migraines with aura showed a 68 % increased risk of white matter brain lesions, compared to those who did not have migraines while patients who experienced common migraines showed 34% increased risk of brain lesions as compared to those who were not suffering from it.
