The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, a lobbying arm of the insurance industry, tested a number of luxury vehicles as part of a four-part evaluation of vehicle safety. Overall, the 2011 Cadillac CTS was named one of the top safety picks in the large luxury class. More specifically, received the group’s top rating in the roof test. This test assesses how well vehicles protect from rollover crashes.

So for those of you in the market for a new luxury vehicle, let it be known that the 2011 Cadillac CTS is the way to go. With its top safety rating, you are guaranteed to be in good hands when driving in the CTS. Its award of top rollover protection put the CTS ahead of many of it competitors in the safety rating including: the 2010 Lexus GS, 2010 Audi A6, and 2010 Acura RL.

Who you gonna call?! Cadillac!

07:46 pm ~ Ft. Myers. Cadillac DTS ~ Used Cadillac. Ft. Myers

As the famous Ray Parker once said: “I ain’t afraid of no ghost!” And even if you are afraid of ghosts, you’d probably feel a little safer riding around in a 1959 Cadillac S&S “Ectomobile.” The car is actually a restored S&S ambulance, just like in the original 1984 Ghostbusters film.

In the film, Ray Stantz purchases the Ecto-1 for $4800, although the car was in a pretty bad state of repair at the time. This time around, you probably won’t be able to get it for quite that cheap. This nearly-exact replica (on the outside at least) is expected to fetch between $115,000 and $130,000 at auction on September 25 in Weybridge, England.

Of course, this is not your typical used Cadillac. Ft. Myers residents shouldn’t expect to see the Ecto-1 rolling down the street any time soon. The 6.5 liter V8 engine is expected to top out around 8 miles per gallon, but that does not include the extra fuel consumption required for racing and accelerating toward calls for ghost capture. The interior of the car is actually set up like a limousine, although since the car is actually selling in England, I doubt we’ll be seeing “Ghostbusters Limo Service” listed in the Yellow Pages any time soon in Ft. Myers. Cadillac DTS drivers, and Cadillac fans throughout the country hoping for a look may have to travel across the pond to see if the car ends up selling to a collector, or someone actually looking to make a buck off it. Obviously, this is a one of a kind used Cadillac. Ft. Myers movie buffs and car collectors alike would no doubt love to take a ride in the Ecto-1. Surely, with a luxury limousine interior, people would be willing to pay a little extra for a trip to the airport if this thing pulled up in their driveway! So although we probably won’t get to see the Ecto-1 up close any time soon in Ft. Myers, Cadillac DTS drivers, and drivers of all Cadillacs, will probably still be content with their luxury ride.

Remember the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man? In 1984, I was two years old. I probably saw Ghostbusters for the first time when I was actually 4 or 5 years old. I remember thinking Slimer was cute, but for some reason, I was scared to death of the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. Can you imagine the giant marshmallow rumbling down the streets of Orlando, Tampa, Naples, or Ft. Myers? Who knows, maybe we’ll get to see something similar with the future release of Ghostbusters III, currently rumored for a Christmas 2012 release.
