Get ready for the new Boxer engine

Customers of Subaru Ft. Myers / Naples dealership DeVoe Subaru are excited to announce the future production of a new engine to be used in Subaru vehicles. The auto brand is very well known for the longevity of their vehicles, as well as their excellent four-wheel-drive capabilities. However, the company has not fully updated their engine for twenty years. Needless to say, it was time.

The confirmation of the new engine came from Fuji Heavy Industries, which is the parent company of Subaru. The new engine will be a four-cylinder boxer between the sizes of 2.0 to 2.5-liters. The main focus of this new engine will be improved fuel economy, as the company is aiming for fuel efficiency improvements by 10 percent. Fuel efficiency has always been a downfall of the car brand, due in part to the amount of fuel the four-wheel-drive feature requires. In part, this will be accomplished by using a constantly variable transmission.

There are rumors that the public may have gotten a sneak peak of this engine at the 2009 Tokyo Motor Show. It is believed to be at least based on the engine that was displayed in the Subaru Hybrid Tourer Concept the auto-manufacturer showcased at that event. That engine was a petrol 2.0-liter boxer with direct injection and a turbocharger. The new engine is also expected to have direct injection, along with a CVT gearbox and a start/stop system.

Mentioned above, DeVoe Subaru is a great dealership to check out when looking for a Subaru. Ft. Myers residents are just a short drive from Naples, where the dealership is located. Obviously, the dealership will not have any vehicles offering the new and more fuel-efficient engine right away, but they have some wonderful options for those needing a car now. Also, customers looking for a used Subaru, Ft. Myers based and beyond, should consider DeVoe as well. Again, a driver of a used Subaru, Ft. Myers Subaru enthusiast, or driving fanatic will not have the high fuel efficiency, but four-wheel-drive is never compromised on a Subaru. Stop in today to look at the new and used vehicles, as well as to learn more about the new engine!
