"I say unto you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over the ninety and nine just persons which need no repentance." Luke 15:7

Priority is preference! What I mean is, priority is what is most important to us. When we view things from this viewpoint then we can understand why God rejoices over the one, more than the ninety and nine. God is not willing that any should perish, "The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is long-suffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." 2Peter 3:9 God's priority, or preference is that all effort be placed upon the repentance of the lost sinner. Jesus came to seek and save the lost and whenever one lost person repents, all of heaven rejoices! Jesus tells us more about his preference through the story of one woman in Luke 15:8 "Either what woman having ten pieces of silver, if she lose one piece, doth not light a candle, and sweep the house, and seek diligently till she find it?" If our preference is toward God and the things of God then we will place high priority on what matters most to him, and that is the soul that has repented of their sin. Likewise as it is the highest priority for a soul to repent and turn to Jesus, it was for this woman to find the lost coin. Listen to what happens when she finds it, "And when she hath found it, she calleth her friends and her neighbors together, saying, Rejoice with me; for I have found the piece which I had lost." Luke 15:9

Jesus says to us, Rejoice with me! For I have found what I came to seek for, the soul which was once lost has turned from sin and is now saved from their lost ways! Rejoice in the Lord, set his preference as your priority today!
